The Practice of Prayer

Adding Power to Your Prayer Life

Why is prayer vital?

Personal prayer is vital because it forges an intimate, loving relationship with God; it releases God’s power to accomplish His purposes on Earth; and it is the true “work” and highest call for us as believers.   ***

Prayer is the necessary continual dialogue we have with God that encompasses everything in our lives.

Why pray scripture?

The book of Hebrews tells us “The Word of God is living and Active”.  ***  It only makes sense to use words that are alive when we pray.  Sometimes we are eloquent with our own words.  Sometimes we find inspirational prayers written by past saints or poets.   While those words may be lovely, they are not living and active as the Bible tells us.  Only the Word of God makes that powerful claim.  When we bow down and humble ourselves in prayer, God will move on our behalf. ***  His power is released and when we pray His Word, that Word accomplishes His Purposes. (Isaiah 55:11)
